DKTC Merit Point System

Home | Back to DKTC

What is the Merit Point System?

The DKTC established a Merit Point System that allows members to earn points for their participation in club meetings, community services, fundraising events organized by the club.

New and first time members will automatically receive 15 merit points in addition to attending/participating in their first meeting, fundraising or community service event.
There is NO COST to become a member.
To become a member, one only needs to begin participating in a DKTC event.

All new members must have a parent/guardian complete a Contact Information & Permission Form prior to or upon participating in their first DKTC event.
• EACH YMCA Monthly Meeting is worth 15 points.
• EACH fundraising event is worth 15 points.
• EACH community service event has the potential to earn up to 30 points.

The points earned will allow members to do one of two things:

  1. Save up their points to attend the annual amusement park, and camping trip (Cedar Point, King's Island, etc.). The higher the points, the lower the admission cost.

  2. 'CASH IN' their points towards the cost of admission to a DKTC social event. These social events take place throughout the year.

For example:
Roller-Skating Party
When: February 14
Where: Wow Family Fun Center
Time: 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Cost: Members $8:00 or 20 points

The money raised by the DKTC during fundraising events will be used to cover the cost of admission for those who choose to 'cash in' their points and/or for the annual DKTC amusement trip.

After each DKTC activity, the DKTC Merit Point Roster is updated and posted on the DSC's website at www.dsc.org to view. In addition to being displayed on the website, they will also be displayed during the monthly DKTC meetings or during the monthly visit at your child's school *

* DKTC currently makes monthly visits to the Columbus district schools that are a part of the Columbus Hearing Impaired Program (CHIP). Plans are underway to set up regular monthly visits with other district schools that have special education programs for the deaf and hard of hearing.
